AM HELPS FIND NEW HOME FOR LOCAL CLUB

Mick Antoniw, Assembly Member for Pontypridd has linked up with Transport for Wales to find a new permanent home for Pontypridd’s Model Train Club.

The club, which was established forty-six years ago has been without a permanent home for the last twelve years.

Mick Antoniw said:

“Pontypridd station is a particularly appropriate location given the club’s interests and I’m pleased to have been able to help find a new permanent home for this popular local club.  I’d like to thank Transport for Wales for responding so positively to my request.”

“Helping local groups and organisations is an important part of my role as an Assembly Member and I would encourage people to get in touch if they have a project that I may be able to help with.”

Phil Gerrish, Pontypridd Model Train Club Secretary said:

“Our club was established 46 years ago, but for the last 12 years we’ve not been able to find a suitable meeting place in our home town.  Our planned new home at Pontypridd station, will provide a central and convenient location, which we hope will encourage many new members to join.

“Our members would like to thank our local AM, Mick Antoniw and managers at Transport for Wales, for helping us to find a permanent home for Pontypridd Model Railway Club.”

Transport for Wales’ Robert Homes said:

“Our vision is for the recently refurbished Pontypridd station to become a hub for the community.  This initiative fully supports that aim and we hope that we will be able to welcome Pontypridd Model Train Club to their new home very soon.  We would invite other community groups with an interest in utilising the facilities to get in touch.”
