AM ON BOARD WITH FREE WEEKEND BUS TRAVEL

Assembly Member for Pontypridd, Mick Antoniw has welcomed the news that passengers will be able to travel for free on weekends on on TrawsCymru bus routes across the whole of Wales.

Funded by the Welsh Government, the pilot, which will apply to all buses on the extensive TrawsCymru network, commenced on Saturday 8 July and will run every weekend until at least May 2018. The initiative includes the Pontypridd to Cardiff (T4) route.

It’s hoped the scheme will act as a catalyst for bus travel in Wales, boosting not only the number of passengers but also wider use of the TrawsCymru routes.

Mick Antoniw said:

“This is a fantastic initiative, which underlines the Welsh Government’s commitment to public transport and encouraging tourism.”

“The TrawsCymru network is extensive and links all Wales’ major towns including Pontypridd, Cardiff, Swansea, Caernarfon and Carmarthen, so this is a great opportunity for people of all ages in Taff Ely to hop on board and see some of our beautiful Welsh scenery for free.”
