Pontypridd Assembly Member Mick Antoniw has welcomed the Welsh A level results which were published yesterday. The results show that Welsh students achieving grades A* – C increased to 75.3%, with 25% achieving A*- A. These are the strongest results since 2009.
The results in science subjects, including maths, biology, chemistry and physics, which have been targeted by Welsh Government, have all improved, with 80.4% achieving A* – C in mathematics. The full results show that grades have improved across all subjects for both female and male students.
Meanwhile 94.1% of students studying the Welsh Baccalaureate achieved the Skills Challenge Certificate, with 74.7% achieving the Advanced Baccalaureate.
Mick Antoniw said:
“This is a very impressive set of results, and it is particularly pleasing to see the students’ achievements in maths and the sciences, which have been a real focus for Welsh Government.
“These results are a real testament to the hard work of students, parents, teaching professionals and Governors; and to the investment in our schools by the Welsh Government. No one should underestimate how hard students have worked and I congratulate each and every one of our students in Taff Ely and across Wales on their fantastic achievements.”
