MS CALLS FOR AEROSPACE SKILLS TO BE PRESERVED

I’ve called on BA to withdraw its threat of redundancy from workers in Wales and across the UK and to engage with trades union to discuss the best way jobs and skills can be protected for the future.

To make workers redundant, then re-employ them on reduced terms and conditions is outrageous and certainly not the actions of a good employer.

I also call on Airbus to engage with trades unions at Broughton in North Wales, where 1,435 jobs are to be made redundant.

The aerospace industry is under significant pressure, but these are highly skilled workers and a way must be found to preserve these skills for when the sector conditions improve.
