Friends of Taffs Well Park working with RCT CBC have installed a trio of memorial stones and benches in Taffs Well park, which were consecrated by the Reverend Zoe King on 3rd November 2016.

The ceremony was attended by local people and school councillors from Ffynnon Taf Primary School.  Also in attendance were Councillor Jill Bonetto, Mick Antoniw AM, Ken Terry representing the Royal British Legion and stone mason Richard Waite.

Reverend Zoe King said:  “It is important to stop and remember how so many lives have been lost through conflict and violence especially as it can seem we are yet to learn from the lessons of our past. This memorial gives the community to remember the past but also may to dream of what could be for our future.”

Councillor Jill Bonetto said:  “The project to introduce the memorial stones has drawn on the talents and energy of people from across the community and I look forward to this part of our beautiful local park being the centre for community remembrance for many years to come.”

Mick Antoniw AM said: “I congratulate all those who have worked so hard to make this project a reality.  It is extremely important that we and future generations continue to remember all those who gave their lives for our freedom; and so it was particularly fitting that local school children from Ffynnon Taf Primary School were present to be a part of this simple and moving ceremony.”
